Abbey House
Following the successful competitive tender process we were instructed to carry out a comprehensive renovation of the existing cottage and conversion of some of the stabling and outbuildings.
The property had been previously repointed in unsuitable cement mortar and this had started to cause problems with damp and deterioration of the stonework. We carefully removed all the hard cement mortar and repointed the whole building using a traditional hot lime mortar.
The existing biomass boiler was utilised for heating and hot water, with the ground floors being excavated and reinstated complete with a wet underfloor heating system.
Other works included:
Full strip and recover of the roof, including new pantiles and repairs to the structure
Installation of solar PV panels and batteries
New plumbing and heating systems.
New foul drainage system including treatment plant
